Blocking Out The Night

Much of life is spent in deep spiritual slumber while opportunities for growth slip away. Occasionally however, a person can be found who is awake during the night of exile and who is sensitive to the call of the eternal and the duties it entails. Such a person rises above the herd mentality that induces most people to shape their lives based on what others decide to be good and nice. Occasionally there arises a person who drums his own beat, making his own decisions based on the Torah’s teachings, even if he must make his way through life alone. If such a person abuses his heightened sensitivity and focuses his heart on the mundane and foolish, he has sold his soul cheaply
